Whether you are speeding along Interstate 81 as it passes through southwest Virginia, or, enjoying a leisurely excursion along the Blue Ridge Parkway, Buchanan’s historic downtown is a natural stopping point.

Our historic Main Street coincides with U.S. Route 11. The Town is centrally located 24 miles south of Lexington, 24 miles north of Roanoke and 20 miles from Bedford. Buchanan is minutes away from attractions such as the Natural Bridge State Park, Lexington Horse Center, VMI,  the Peaks of Otter, the D-Day Memorial, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Appalachian Trail and Roanoke City.

Buchanan has convenient access from Interstate 81 at Exit 168 when traveling from the north or Exit 162 from the south. From Bedford, Rt. 43 north takes you 14 miles from the Peaks of Otter. Main Street Buchanan is minutes away from the Blue Ridge Parkway at milepost 90.9 (JCT 43 North, Parkway Drive).

Be sure to make the Buchanan Town Hall & Municipal Building your first stop for information to help you get the most out of your adventure. The Town Hall is open 8:00 am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday, and located at 19753 Main Street.
