For public water or sewer emergencies (not on private property) after 5:00pm, and on weekends, please call Sheriff’s Dispatch at (540) 473-8230 and Town staff will be contacted.

Water, Sewer and Garbage customers are billed monthly for services. Residential Customers are charged $48.25 for the first 4,000 gallons of water, $36.75 for sewer, and $16.00 for garbage pickup. Commercial customers are charged $50.25 for the first 4,000 gallons of water, $36.75 for sewer and $22.00 for garbage. Water and sewer usage over 4,000 gallons per month are charged additional fees. Out of Town water rates are 1.5 times the base in-Town rate for residential and commercial. Late fee on Water, Sewer and Garbage Bill is $20.

Buchanan Town Park

Regular Town Council Meetings are held on the Second Monday of each month beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Buchanan Town Hall located at 19753 Main Street.

Town Elections

Elections are held every year on the first Tuesday of November with the general elections. Elected officials are sworn in on January 1st of the next year. Two seats are elected on even numbered years, along with the Mayor, and the two other seats are elected on odd numbered years.

The polling place for registered Town voters is the Buchanan Elementary School located at 255 Schoolhouse Road. For more information, please contact the Botetourt County Registrar at (540) 928-2120.
