The Town is accepting applications for the Town Clerk position. The position is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of official Town records, including the drafting of proclamations, resolutions and ordinances; preparation of agenda packets and meeting minutes for the Town Council; preparation of meeting minutes for the Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals; processing FOIA requests; and providing support to the Town Manager, Mayor and Town Council. Among other duties, the Town Clerk will receive and process payments, entering account receivables into QuickBooks and making daily bank deposits. The Town Clerk serves as the main point of contact for walk-in customers and visitors, and answering and directing phone calls to the appropriate staff.
The Town Clerk must be professional, courteous, detail-oriented, able to handle confidential information, be an independent worker and a resourceful team player. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and QuickBooks) are required. Position requires an associate’s degree in business management or public administration or a related field, or equivalent education or combination of experience with a high school diploma. Prior work experience as a municipal clerk or deputy clerk is preferred. Certification as a Municipal Clerk (CMC) is preferred or obtainable within three years.
