Rediscover life in small town America during Buchanan’s 60th Buchanan Community Carnival. This event was voted as one of the “Best Community Events” by readers of the Roanoke Times. Explore our midway where you will find family oriented Games, Rides provided by Coles Amusements, and great Food including our famous Fries! Each night features live music and or dance performances.
Activities begin on Thursday, June 27 and run through July 6th. (The Carnival is closed on Sunday, June 30th.) Remember, save $8 when you purchase advance tickets at the Buchanan Town Hall. Buchanan’s Fireworks Displays are scheduled for Thursday, July 4th at 10:30pm and Saturday, July 6th at 11:00pm.

The Buchanan Volunteer Fire Department invites you and your family to enjoy an afternoon of old fashioned Fire Department competitions and demonstrations. While the activities are fun for the public, they are designed to showcase the group’s strength and organizational skills as a unit. Join us on the Carnival Grounds on Saturday, June 29th at 4pm.
Twin River Outfitters and the Town of Buchanan invite you to participate in the first ever, Buchanan Community 4th of July James River Canoe and Kayak Race to be held on Thursday, July 4th.
Entry Fee for the race is $10 if you bring your own boat, $25 for Kayak rental and $50 for Canoe rental. Reservations are suggested by July 2nd to guarantee a boat. Walk on Registration on Thursday, July 4th from 12:30pm through 2:30pm. Entries will leave from Twin River Outfitters located at 653Lowe Street at 2:30pm for the 6 mile race.

Buchanan Community Carnival Corn Hole Competition
The Botetourt County Department of Recreation and the Town of Buchanan invite you to take part in the first Buchanan Corn Hole Tournament scheduled for Saturday, July 6th beginning at 2:00 pm on the Buchanan Carnival Grounds at 485 Lowe Street. Registration is at 1:30pm before the event with a fee of $5 per person or $10 per Team. All proceeds go towards renovations of the Buchanan Carnival Grounds. Prizes include Theatre Passes, Carnival Passes and Buchanan Shirts.
