Buchanan’s Art Galleries are excited to share the talents of their featured artists. Buchanan’s arts community focuses on the traditions and culture of the Shenandoah Valley and beyond.
Buchanan’s arts community is an important partner in the town’s ongoing revitalization activities, their shops provide “incubator business” opportunities for local artist to establish themselves and grow while contributing to the overall economic growth of the community. The Frame Shop and Gallery offers a unique blend of original art by local and regional artists, framed and unframed prints, and Civil War prints including the works of Mort Kunstler and John Paul Strain.
The Frame Shop and Gallery also offers pottery, stained glass, Adore Soy Candles, Evergreen Flags, gifts and custom framing at reasonable prices.
Current local artist on display include Tina McConchie, Carrie McNutt, Helen Hubler, Douglas Cave, George Schumate, Tammy Martin, as well as photography by Jimmy Carter, Jason Rheinhart, Richard Kemper.

Gallery By the James is an artist owned cooperative gallery housed in the historic 1880 Buchanan Masonic Lodge Building.
Gallery By the James features original works in pastels, oils, acrylics, watercolors, photography, collage, textiles, pottery, glass, jewelry and fine crafts. All works are created by local and regional artists. In additional to original works, the Gallery offers framed and unframed prints of your favorite works.
Current members include Lois Bitner, Hazel Bowers, Jessie Stull Burton, Barbara Caton, Phil deVos, Helen Hubler, Tom & Sharon Akers, and Jill Pennington.
